"英语学习"这个字眼不知从什么时候开始就一直挂在中国人的嘴边，既表明了我们要一直学习英语的决心，又说明了我们还没有将英语彻底掌握的现状。经过多年的英语学习，到头来要么考试通不过，要么表达翻译不出来，随着时间的推移，英语学习成了我们心中隐隐的痛。
We can't tell when does "English Study",
this phrase become popular among Chinese. This phrase
indicates our desire of mastering English, and, in
another hand, shows the present condition that we
haven't grasped English as a tool, which we can use.
After many year's study, we can't pass the tests for
English, or we can't translate or express clearly.
Along with time passing by, English Study, this phrase
became some kind of our common secret anguish.
近年来，随着信息产业的发展，越来越多的年轻人开始坐在电脑前，成了IT的新鲜人，先进的生产工具同时也成为了先进的学习工具，他们期待着能在事业成功的同时，也得到学习上的辉煌。
Through these recent years, with the development
of IT Industry, more and more young people are sitting
before computers becoming IT freshman. The advanced
IT tools, the computer became the advanced tools for
study, by using which we can not only make progresses
on work, but also make big progresses on study.
下面我为大家介绍一个英语学习的计划，我把它称为"英语学习的食谱"。之所以起这个名字，是因为英语学习是需要持之以恒的，"拳不离手，曲不离口"而我们在一天中能主动学习英语的机会又少之又少，这样一看，倒不如将英语的学习比喻成我们的一日三餐。因为，我们的一日三餐是从来不间断的，所以，我们的英语学习也不会轻易间断。
Now below I present to dear readers a plan of English
study for IT workers. Here I call it "An English
Study Recipe for IT workers". Because English
study needs the learners to persevere, "Great
boxers and singers will never stop practicing".
We don't have many opportunities to study English
everyday, so we compare one day's English study to
our three meals a day. As our three meals a day will
never be interrupted, our English study everyday will
not be interrupted very easily.
一， 让我们先从午餐说起吧。
Let's start from the LUNCH.
午餐时间是2个小时，（12：00-2：00） 或是 （11：30-1：30）
Our lunch time is 2 hours, (12:00-2:00) or (11:30-1:30)
内容是：
The content is:
1， 开胃甜点（吃午餐的30分钟）：浏览背诵长的难记的新单词，或是很久都没有背下来的顽固单词。
1, APPETIZERS (in 30 minutes while eating your lunch)
Look through and memorize the long, hard to remember
new words or the stubborn words that have been reviewed
lots of times.
2， 主餐（饭后1个小时）：熟读10个句子（到了一定阶段，有的人能一中午背下来50个句子）
2, HOST MEAL (in one hour after food) Read and memorize
10 sentences. (Reaching some certain stage, one can
recite 50 sentences in one hour.)
3， 饭后茶（背诵完句子后的半个小时）听听新闻，听听音乐。
3. TEA AFTER LUNCH (in half a hour after lunch)
Listen to music and news.
开胃甜点：先不说吃饭（we are not discussing）时学习对身体又没有好处，我们只是将吃饭时的胡思乱想和闲聊变成了对单词的背诵。如："subsidiary"这个单词，意思是：
附属的，副的。我们平时可能看到了几次，查了几次字典，但是就是没有用心的去记住，下次看到了，可能还会因为叫不准而再查一次字典。现在，我们就用吃饭的时间瞥一眼它，不论它有多长，字母组合有多繁杂，在用餐时轻松的环境下，心中默念几遍可能就记住了。与其要不经心的翻查很多次字典，倒不如一次就深深印在心里，"长痛不如短痛"么。在这里我推荐大家使用：金山词霸2002配合打印机来制作单词卡片。
APPETIZERS: We are not discussing whether studying
while eating does no good to health, we just turn
the chatting and woolgathering into word memory. For
example: "subsidiary"- Secondary in importance;
subordinate. Perhaps we have used to see this word
for times, and looked it up in dictionary for times,
but not taking it into mind. Next time when we see
this word, probably will look it up in dictionary
again for unclear recognizing. Now, we take a glimpse
at those words while eating, no matter how long the
word is, how complicated the letter combination, in
the easy circumstance of eating, we read it silently
in our heart for several times and then, remember
it. Rather than looking it up in dictionary carelessly
for many times, we just imprint this word deep in
our mind this time. "long pain is no better than
a short stronger pain." Now, I recommend dear
readers to use "Kingsoft Power Word 2002"
and a printer to make the "new words card".
具体做法是：
Detailed procedure is:
1） 平时就要求"金山词霸"开机时就运行，并且要求屏幕取词的方式为ctrl
+ 鼠标取词 或 shift + 鼠标取词，以做到将"金山词霸"作为默认的电子字典，并且不影响正常的鼠标操作。
1) We make "Kingsoft Power Word 2002"
automatically run when system starts, and set the
"screen capture" mode "ctrl + left
button click" or "shift + left button click".
Now we have made "KS Power Word 2002" as
our default dictionary in our system, which we can
use it often and easily, and avoid affecting the regular
mouse click operations.
2） 经过一段时间的查字典、屏幕取词后，打开"生词本"，将自动显示方式转为手动，这时，会发现我们以前在屏幕上取到的词，查过的词都出现在生词本里了。
2) After several screen capture or looking up operations
with "KS Power Word 2002", we start "New
Words Notebook", and turn the Automatic Display
Mode into Manual Mode. Now, we can see the words that
we have looked up or captured from screen have been
reserved in the list.
3） 现在，我们可以自己浏览一下，看看哪些是已经熟悉的不需要再记忆的词汇了，删掉它们，只留下自己脑海中还是很模糊的新词汇。然后，利用生词本的打印功能将他们打印出来，作为单词条，随身携带。我们可以在平时空闲的时间就拿出来看一看，抓紧每一分每一秒。
3) By Now, we can take a quick view of the words
listed, delete the familiar ones and keep the unfamiliar
ones only. Then, use the printing function of the
"New Words Notebook" print out the new words,
to make the "New words card".
4） 中午吃饭的时候，将单词卡片放在桌子上，可以边吃边看上几眼，这里不强求能背下多少单词，只要不耽误时间，吃饭时间能有收获就行了。相信利用吃饭时的半个小时，我们背下20个新单词是不成问题的。
4) When you are eating your food at noon, put the
"New words card" onto the table, take a
glance at it while eating. Here we don't expect how
many words we should memorize at a time, but not wasting
precious time and having some gain. I believe within
the half a hour's lunch time, we can memorize 20 news
very easily.
主餐：在这里我们先说一下"以句子为单位"学习英文的重要性。
HOST MEAL: At first we are discussing the importance
of "Sentence-Centered Learning" methods.
我们通常背单词时，会去查查字典，默写一下，再看看例句，再默写或默背这个单词几遍，但是可能我们早已发现，这样背诵下来的单词会在第二天或第三天就忘掉了，或是，在左右重复背诵了若干次以后，记住了这个单词，却在英语写作，说话表达的时候根本想不到用不上。可见，我们以往的记忆单词的方法并不很有效果。现在，我们可以遵循李阳�"疯狂英语""句子中心论"的方法进行学习。"'句子中心论'就是去疯狂的收集句子，然后疯狂操练直至脱口而出"。当我们完成对一个句子的学习达到脱口而出的程度时，我们有了如下几个收获：
Usually when we are memorizing a new word, we will
look it up in dictionary at first, write it on paper
for several times, perhaps look at its illustrative
sentences, and then, write or rehearse for several
time. This is our usual way to recite new words, but
perhaps we have found this fact, that the new words
we have recited this way will not last in our memory
when the second day or the third day comes. Or, after
memorizing this word for many times, we can remember
this word, but we can't use it properly when we are
facing the expressive condition, such as in writing
a sentence or express certain meanings. Now, we can
take the LI Yang "Crazy English" "Sentence-Centered
Learning" methods to learn new words. "'Sentence-Centered
Learning' methods is to collect sentences crazily
and practice reading them until you can blurt it out."
When we can blurt out one single sentence, we have
got these advantages as follows:
1， 我们已将整个句子中的生词记牢。
1. We have memorized all the new words in this sentence.
2， 我们不但记住了生词，还学会了这个生词的至少一种用法。这远远比学了10个单词，却一个单词也不会用，也弄不懂什么时候用的学习方法要好。
2. We have not only memorized the new word, but
also have known at least one of its usages. This is
much better then the condition that we have memorized
ten new words, but can use none of them or to be not
clear of when we should use them.
3， 我们通过了对这个句子的口语训练，提高了对类似的语言结构（语法）的熟悉，不但提高了口腔肌肉的对英语的灵敏度，又增强了语感，而语感对我们又是至关重要的。因为表达意愿是交流的前提，表达方式是交流的结果，而语感就成了它们之间的桥梁。
3. After the oral exercise of the sentence, we have
improved the familiarity with the language pattern
(grammar). Not only have we improved the sense of
speaking English of our tongue muscle, but also got
the Language Feel, which is most important for us
to learn a foreign language. Because the expressive
desire is the precondition of communication, the expression
is the result of communication, and the language feel
is the bridge between them.
4， 当我们能脱口而出这句话的时候，我们当然也就能听懂类似的话了，所以当我们背的句子多了的时候，听力就肯定会随之提高。
4. When we can blurt out this sentence, we surely
can catch such a sentence or a similar one when we
hear it. So, when we have memorized more and more
sentences, our listening comprehension must have been
improved.
5， 句子中心论带来的不光是口语的提高，还有写作的提高。因为，能说出来的话当然也能够被写出来。
5. "Sentence-Centered Learning" methods
not only bring us improvement of oral English, but
also the improvement of composition skill. Because,
what we can speak out, what we can write down.
我们懂得了为什么要熟读句子，；以句子为中心来学习英语，只是大体上的理论，具体到做法，还可以参考疯狂英语的网站以及李阳的书籍，譬如，到李阳的官方论坛和其他英语学习爱好志一起讨论一下如何有效的用句子记忆英语。
We have seen why we are learning sentences carefully,
following the "Sentence-Centered Learning"
methods, but this is only a brief theory. As for the
detailed procedure of doing this, we can refer to
the websites concerned to Crazy English and the books
of Li Yang. For example, log onto the official BBS
of Li Yang to discuss with other English learners
on how to memorize English sentences efficiently.
在这里，想说一下关于句子选择的问题：
here, I'd like to discuss about the sentence collection
issues:
1， 我们要背诵的句子一定要是非常地道的英语，一些中国人自己编写的英语教材要慎重使用。我们可以选择文学名著，网上的中英对照的读物等等。也可以从英语学习的论坛处获得各种各样的英语学习资料。
1. The sentence that we are learning must be very
authentic English. The materials that Chinese authors
composed and made for English learning should be used
prudently. We can choose some literary materials,
the articles online in English and we can also get
various materials from English study BBS.
2， 我们需要制作句子条，而句子条的格式一定要中文在上（前），英文在下（后）。
2. We need to make "Sentences note", which
in a form that Chinese meaning in above ( in front)
and English sentence in below ( in after).
因为，按照我们记忆的规律，我们应该先有"表达冲动"，再有表达。那么，首先中文的意思，就给我们提供了我们熟悉的"表达冲动"，而地道的英文句子，则告诉了我们这个意思的地道表达方式。这种卡片的编排方式，对于记忆是非常有效果的。
According to the memorial rule, we should have the
"Express Impulse" first, and then, the expression.
So, the Chinese meaning present to us our familiar
"Express Impulse", and the authentic English
sentence below provides us the authentic expression.
By using this form to arrange sentences, will do great
help to our study.
当我们完全的投入到午间的背诵句子的活动当中以后，我们会发现午间的英语学习要比真正的午餐更有滋味。
When we completely jump into the English study as
the recipe tells us, we will find that this kind of
LUNCH tasted much better than the lunch food.
饭后茶：对照一下歌词听听英文的老歌，或是听听新闻，看看外国电视（如果带宽允许的话）。听英文歌曲的好处是：
TEA AFTER LUNCH: Listen to some English old songs
comparing the lyrics, or listen to English radios
or watch English TV program. (If medium or high bandwidth
available.) The advantages of listening to English
old songs are below:
1， 我们经过一段长时间的句子背诵，绷紧亢奋的神经需要调解，而老歌可以使我们的神经得到充分的放松，以迎接下午的工作。
1. After a long time sentences memorizing, we should
relax our strained nerve. Old songs can make us totally
relaxed, to have a good temper to face the coming
work in the afternoon.
2， 对照歌词，我们会发现原来耳熟能详的老歌中竟有如此多未知的感动，而感动会使我们对这种陌生的语言凭添如母语般的亲切。
2. Comparing the lyrics, we will find much undiscovered
affections from those beautiful familiar themes, and
the affections of English songs are kind of affections
of English language, which will make us feel English
as our mother tongue, tenderly.
3， 英语歌曲中的歌词大多是叙事叙情的，对这些歌词的充分学习也是非常有益的。
3. Most of the lyrics of English old songs are about
a story or a kind of affection, to learn the lyrics
of these songs will do help to improve our English
expression.
建议：使用Winamp并打开DFX for Winamp，选中提高立体声效果的"MP3
Enhancer- High Volume"或是"Classical- Symphonic"这样适当提高歌曲的环绕效果有助于刺激我们的神经，让我们对歌曲的感受更深。
Here I suggest using Winamp and DFX for Winamp to
enjoy the songs. We click on the stereo enhancer button:
"MP3 Enhancer- High Volume" or "Classical-
Symphonic". So we can get more fair sounding
surrounding music, and this may stimulate our nerve,
which makes us feel the songs and the English lyrics
inside deeper.
或是打开Real Player 或 Windows Media Player， 调出我们喜爱的外国电台，感受一下外国广播的节奏，体会一下地道的语言传播的感觉。不一定要去仔细听懂，而仅仅是感受一下就足够了，说不定，我们能够听懂其中的一两段，这会给我们的英语学习带来极大的动力。在坚持收听标准快速的英语新闻一段时间以后，我们对英文的感觉会发生质变。
Or using Real Player or Windows Media Player, tune
in our favorite English radio stations. We will feel
the rhythm of the local radio broadcasting, and taste
the authentic language communication. We are not always
to understand them all, just listen to them and feel
them. If we can catch some parts of it, it will encourage
us most, bring us much confidence. After keeping on
listening to the English radios for a long while,
our sense towards English must be qualitatively changed.
听力的练习对我们很重要，因为，耳朵听不到的聋哑残疾人不可能会说出地道的普通话。
Practice of listening comprehension is very important
for us English learners. The deaf people can't speak
well, because they never heard before.
二， 晚餐就更丰富多彩了(晚饭时间一直到睡觉的3个小时)：

1. SOUP: Enjoy the English films
2， 主餐：阅读网页，制作自己的翻译日记
2. HOST MEAL: Read English news online and make
our everyday translation diaries.
3， 小吃：英语聊天
3． SNACK: English chatting online.
品汤：下班后吃晚饭时，如果我们能在电视或电脑里放上一段英语新闻，一段英文电影，这将是一道独特的英语鸡汤。CCTV4,
CCTV9（7:00p.m.-7:30p.m.）都在黄金时间推出了英语新闻，非常的专业。当我们从英语的新闻中了解到当天的时事时，那种感觉真得很好。一段英文影片，在看的时候尽量不去看画面，更不要去看字幕，边吃饭边听，又不时地看上一两眼。
SOUP: Being out of duty, when you are having your
dinner, you can turn on the TV or PC to play a part
of English TV news or English movie. This would be
a very special English studying soup. CCTV4, CCTV9
(7:00p.m.-7:30p.m.) will play for half an hour very
professional English News. When we can get information
of the current affairs by watching English news, which
must be a very exciting experience. When you are playing
a movie on the computer, you should force yourself
not watching the moving video, or the subtitle, just
listen to the audio while you are eating, being relaxed.
一部电影，某一类别的电视新闻，可能在第一次听的时候会听懂的很少，但第二次就听懂了一些，第三次可能就会听懂的更多。
Facing a strange movie, some certain kind of English
news, perhaps you can catch very little when the first
time you watch it. And then, the second time you will
understand more, the third time, you will get even
more.
主餐：如果我们能为自己主动的定下每天必须完成的任务，不断地为自己施加压力，我们就不会轻易放弃。我建议IT人都在自己的个人主页上开辟一个"翻译日记"的栏目，或制作一个纯英文的主页。每天力求用2个小时时间翻译一篇英文，再翻译一篇中文。当然，我们最开始只需练习英译中，英文见得多了，中译英才轻松。这份工作可能一开始很难完成，但是，只要咬牙坚持下来，就会苦尽甘来。原朱总理记者招待会上的翻译朱彤，在她的自述中这样写道："翻译的训练就是咬着牙硬翻译。"
HOST MEAL: If we can give a plan for ourselves everyday,
which is on what to learn and how much do we learn,
put more duties on ourselves, we will not give up
our study very easily. I recommend every IT worker
put a column onto his homepage, with a name of "English
Translation Diary" or just make a pure English
homepage for himself. We plan to translate one English
article into Chinese and one Chinese Article into
English every night, by using 2 hours. Of course,
at the beginning of this plan, we can probably only
translate English into Chinese. But as time goes by,
when we are becoming more and more skillful, we can
translate Chinese to English very easily. It must
be very hard to carry on in the first, but if you
persevere, you will get tasting the sweet after the
sweat. Zhu tong, former Press Conference interpreter
for Premier Zhu, once said, "The practice of
translation is to force yourself to translate even
when you are not able to tell the correct answer."
小吃：（睡觉前一个小时）和网友聊天（用英文通信），让我们在真实的交流中学习。我在这里向您推荐几个不错的选择：
SNACK: Before you sleep, you can use one hour to
practice your English in real communication, you can
log on chat rooms or use some P2P software to chat
with others, and also can just exchange E-mails with
friends. Here, I recommend some comfortable choices:
如果你的英语程度是初级的话，可以去看看国内的著名聊天网站：碧海银沙
If your English level is not very high, you can
go to a famous domestic chatting room: Silver Sand.
和中国人聊天的好处是他们会对你的英语提出很多苛刻的建议，这对初级的学习者来说是很重要的。
The advantage of chatting with Chinese English learners
is they can give you many slashing comments, which
are very helpful for the beginning English learners.
但我还是建议不要用语音聊天：因为，里面大部分的语音聊天者都是去练习口语的。听一听他们大都在说些什么："Hello,
can you hear me?""Hi, I'm from Jilin."非常的简单和重复。你如果跟他们交流的话，倒不如跟着收音机里的老外学得快。如果只是想到里面展示一下自己的水平，看看自己的英语程度到底如何，那么还是相信自我感觉算了，因为，打个比方：如果你到口吃人的俱乐部学习播音普通话，你不但不会进步，还会变的口吃。
But I don't recommend you to use Voice Chat function
of the "Silver Sand Chat", like chart:
For most of the guys who are using voice chat there
are beginning English learners, who are practicing
their oral English there with each other. Take a listen
to what they are talking about there, "Hello,
can you hear me?" or "Hi, I'm from Jilin.",
all like these very simple and senseless conversations.
I think you can follow the native speakers in the
radio rather than staying there wasting your time
chatting with the "Hello" and "Hi".
If you only want to show how good your English skill
is, before the audients there in that chat room, I
recommend you just believe your own feeling, not wasting
time in nothing. Say, if you are learning standard
speaking Chinese in the club of shuttering persons,
you are not to progress, but become shuttering too.
当你的英语有一定的基础时，那就提高自己的标准，到ICQ， MSN messenger 或 AOL
messenger上去练习。
When you are in some higher level, you should give
yourself a higher expectation. Practice English on
ICQ, MSN messenger or AOL messenger.
这里着重介绍一下在ICQ上寻找外国好友的方法：点击ICQ的 To Advanced Mode按钮，变至ICQ的高级模式：
Now, I'd like to introduce the way on how to find
foreign friends on ICQ. Click the button of "To
Advanced Mode" on ICQ to change ICQ into Advanced

在英语学习的晚餐部分中，可能会遇到很多实用的句子，我们就将它们记在句子卡片上，留到明天中午继续背。
During the study of SUPPER, we should have had met
many practical new words and sentences, we just note
them down on the "new words card" or "Sentences
note". Preserve them to the next noon.
三， 早餐（6：30-7：00包括吃早饭）复习时间

study circumstance for ourselves. Not having been
in abroad, but better study surrounding we have got.

Of course, this recipe is only a single personal opinion;
the individual plan of study English should be individual.
So I hope IT worker can take good advantage of their
precious youth time, make a good plan of study, and
make good use of the advanced tool, Computer and Internet.
Make progresses on both work and study. The most important
is, keep on studying everyday, one step at a time,
"never forget to take one meal".
